Level 1: For students who are new to the language, and/or have had limited or minimal exposure to Spanish.
Level 2: For students who can carry a very basic conversation in Spanish (name, age, where you live, etc.), and/or have Spanish support at home. Students should have adequate knowledge of colors, numbers, shapes, days of the week, and months of the year. Focuses on building vocabulary, and basic sentence structure, as well as learning to communicate using that vocabulary with their peers.
Level 3: A continuation of Level 2, where students apply what they have already learned to higher-order thinking skills, engage in more reading and writing activities, and hold deeper conversations with their peers. Completing Level 2 is not required to enroll in Level 3, depending on the student's knowledge of Spanish, and the teacher's discretion.
Level 4: For students who are able to carry a more advanced conversation in Spanish (talk about likes, dislikes, and carry a deeper conversation about reading material in class), as well as understand Spanish text. This class focuses more on grammar and is the last class prior to moving to our Spanish 1 classes for Jr. High Students.
Literacy: For our TK-1st grade students, these classes are beginning level classes that focus on learning to read and prepare your child for a dual immersion program or help your child thrive in their current program. For students in 2nd grade and up, these classes focus on reading to learn and are designed for current/former dual immersion students and/or native or fluent Spanish speakers. All of our literacy classes focus on reading fluency, comprehension, writing, and grammar.
