Summer Classes (Conversational or Literacy)
Our Summer Conversational and Literacy classes are a continuation of our regular school year academic classes. These classes are offered in-person and online, for Levels 1, 2, and 3.
Our Conversational classes offer students a full immersion, small-group setting that is fun and engaging. These classes focus primarily on conversational Spanish, although our more rigorous Level 3 classes include all academic disciplines, plus encourage and focus on students' presentation skills.
Our Literacy classes are designed for Dual Immersion Students and/or native or fluent Spanish speakers. These are our most rigorous classes and they will push your student to the next level.
Choosing your level:
Level 1: Suitable for students that are new to our program, have no knowledge of Spanish, and/or are new to the language.
Level 2: Suitable for students with limited Spanish, and/or have Spanish support at home, and/or have been part of our Level 1 Spanish classes at Nuestra Escuelita.
Level 3: Suitable for students who can carry a basic conversation in Spanish, and/or have been part of our Level 2 Spanish classes at Nuestra Escuelita. Students are expected to read and write in Spanish.
(Please feel free to contact us if you have specific questions regarding placement in any of our classes.)
Cultural Summer Camps
Our Cultural Summer Camps are one-week long (M-Th) and offer students a relaxed environment where they're immersed into the Spanish language as they explore the culture, geography, music, dance, art, and cuisine of various Spanish-speaking countries.
WEEK 1: Colombia and El Salvador
WEEK 2: Spain and Ecuador
WEEK 3: Bolivia and Peru
WEEK 4: Puerto Rico and Guatemala
Our camps are led by a native Spanish speaker and credentialed classroom teacher. Classes are limited to only 10 students so we’re able to provide as much individualized attention as possible.
Camps will follow the following schedule and focus on these major themes:
Day 1: History and important facts which make each country unique.
Day 2: Agriculture, food, and cuisine--don't be surprised if they bring home something delicious or ask for something new to eat at home!
Day 3: We explore geography, landmarks, and other cool places!
Day 4: Students learn about music, art, sports, and more, that are unique to each country.
These one-week camps offer a relaxed environment where students accomplish their learning via hands-on projects, arts and crafts, games, music, and much more. By the end of the week, your student will be an expert and have a deeper appreciation of each country, its culture, and contribution to the world.
We're passionate about language and culture, and we encourage you to read more about our classes and how we teach!
