Summer In-Person and Online Spanish Immersion Classes (Conversational or Literacy)
Our Summer Conversational and Literacy classes are a continuation of our regular school year academic classes. These classes are offered in-person and online, as Intro to Spanish, Conversational Levels 1, 2, and 3, and Literacy.
Our Conversational classes offer students a full immersion, small-group setting that is fun and engaging. These classes focus primarily on conversational Spanish, although our more rigorous Level 3 classes include all academic disciplines, plus encourage and focus on students' presentation skills.
Our Literacy classes are designed for Dual Immersion Students and/or native or fluent Spanish speakers. These are our most rigorous classes and they will push your student to the next level.
Choosing your level:
Level 1A: For students who are new to the language, and/or have had limited exposure to Spanish. Students may not know how to read in Spanish or have a difficult time reading in their native language.
Level 1B: For students who are new the the language, but who have acquired basic reading skills in their native language.
Level 2A: For students who can carry a very basic conversation in Spanish (name, age, where you live, etc.), and/or have Spanish support at home. Students should have adequate knowledge of colors, numbers, shapes, days of the week, and months of the year. Focuses on building vocabulary, and basic sentence structure, as well as learning to communicate using that vocabulary with their peers.
Level 2B: A continuation of Level 2A, where students apply what they have already learned to higher-order thinking skills, engage in more reading and writing activities, and hold deeper conversations with their peers. Completing Level 2A is not required to enroll in Level 2B, depending on the student's knowledge of Spanish, and the teacher's discretion.
Level 3: For students who are able to carry a more advanced conversation in Spanish (talk about likes, dislikes, attempt to use some present and past tense), as well as understand Spanish text. This class focuses more on grammar and is the last class prior to moving to the literacy program.
Literacy: For our TK-1st grade students, these classes are beginning level classes that focus on learning to read and prepare your child for a dual immersion program or help your child thrive in their current program. For students in 2nd grade and up, these classes focus on reading to learn and are designed for current/former dual immersion students and/or native or fluent Spanish speakers. All of our literacy classes focus on reading fluency, comprehension, writing, and grammar.
(Please feel free to contact us if you have specific questions regarding placement in any of our classes.)
