Do I need to wait for my child until the class is over, or can I drop off and leave?
Parents are welcome to wait in our parent lounge, where we offer free coffee, water, snacks, and WiFi, or they may drop off and leave. However, we ask that you pick up your child promptly when class is over. The only exception is that we ask parents attending a free trial class to please wait on site until the free trial class is over.

What if my child does not know any Spanish?
That is OK. We offer Beginning Spanish classes, which are intended for students with little or no knowledge of Spanish, and all of our classes are differentiated based on levels. In fact, many of our students that take classes for the first time do not have any prior experience with Spanish. Each of our classes involve multiple ways for students to engage with the language, and we make sure students receive instruction that is appropriate, but challenging, for their level. We conduct our classes using whole and small group instruction where students are divided into groups based on prior knowledge and proficiency. We do our best to make sure instruction is appropriate for each child's ability.
What if my child is already fluent in Spanish or has some knowledge of Spanish?
That is wondeful! Once we asses your child's abilities, we will develop a learning plan and work with your child to ensure that he or she receives challenging material and additional practice and exposure to further develop his or her Spanish language skills. All of our classes involve mulitple ways to engage with the language, including small group instruction where students are divided into centers based on their ability, and where we are able to individualize instruction.
What is the best age to start learning Spanish?
Most of our parents who want their child to learn a new language start them at a young age. However, now is always the best time to begin learning a new language. The earlier your child is exposed to Spanish and immersed in the language, the better.
Do parents need to speak Spanish at home?
Not at all, but it is important that your child practice what is covered in class at home. We will provide you with various resource materials that can be used at home. As with acquiring any new skill, you get out of it what you put into it, and the more your child practices, the more he or she will learn. If you have specific questions about how to practice at home, please let us know.
My child currently attends a dual immersion school, will he or she benefit from additional Spanish classes?
Of course! Many of our students either attend or have attended dual immersion schools and find many benefits to attending our classes. Please let us know if you have any specific questions regarding your child--we are happy to help.
Will my child become fluent in Spanish?
Learning a new language requires a strong commitment from both the parent and child, and lots and lots of practice. We have seen many of our students show strong growth learning Spanish over the years, in both speaking, reading, and writing. In addition to introducing new language concepts, new vocabulary, and building a strong foundationg for learning Spanish, all of our classes provide students with resource materials that can be used at home and we can also recommend strategies for acquiring a new language. If you ever have any questions about things you can do at home, please feel free to email us for ideas.
Will reading and writing be integrated into the classes?
Yes, depending on the type of class. For example, our Conversational Spanish classes do include some reading and writing content, but will predominately focus on verbal comprehension and speaking Spanish. As we work with you child and better understand their strengths and weaknesses, we will be able to introduce original and more rigorous material to stimulate your child and help him or her reach their full potential.
Do classes build on what was covered in previous classes?
Yes, for the most part. As we get to know your child and his or her abilities, the better we are at introducing meaningful content and personalizing the learning experience for your child. We always do our best to implement multiple theoretical approaches to learning and to differentiate instruction to accommodate your child and his or her level of proficiency with Spanish. We always strive to ensure each child receives the most appropriate level of instruction during each class.
